Yellowstone

We had a great trip to Yellowstone with Tracie’s side of the family.  We stayed in Big Sky, Montana and had a great time exploring the park and playing in Big Sky.  The highlight of the trip for Tracie and Grace was ziplining down the mountain.

We were spoiled with amazing sunrises from our condo every morning.

This was the resident fox that hung around the condo.

We saw two brown bears.  We are not sure if they were Grizzly bears or not.  We learned that Black bears can also be brown.

There were about 60 people at the reunion.  Here are some of the kids.

The crowd at Old Faithful was impressive.  There were several hundred waiting for Old Faithful to blow.  Fifteen years ago, Old Faithful went off every 45 minutes or so.  Due to an earthquake, it now goes off about every 90 minutes.

Tracie and Grace’s favorite part of the trip was ziplining down the mountain with Grandma Peg and the rest of the family.

Sarah’s favorite part of the trip was the beach.

Grace was a pro at Paddleboarding.

Grace and I went back into the park to check out the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone was incredible.  This is the view from Artist Point.  This is the second most photographed point in the park behind Old Faithful.

We saw about 50 bison, 2 bears, and many elk, deer, and moose.

Grace hiked four miles this day including a 600 foot drop to the base of the lower falls of the Grand Canyon.

The last day I went on a hike up to Beehive Basin.  This was a great hike with views of Lone Mountain, the Spanish Peaks, and the valley.

I was fascinated by this house.  It overlooked the valley and had a planetarium.
