Cancun Day 1

We woke up at 4:00 excited for our adventure.  Sarah was wide eyed as we took off on our first flight to Seattle. Grace was a professional as she told Sarah what to expect as we took off. We made our connecting flight in Seattle with plenty of time to spare.

We killed time on the 5 1/2 hour flight by watching movies and practicing Spanish. Tracie read through several off the guide books that she had brought.

Immigrations and customs went smoothly and we were taken to a shuttle that took us to our rental car. We navigated insurance questions and soon we were off to our hotel. Our route took us the length of the hotel zone which was lit up with Christmas trees and nativity scenes.

We checked into our room at the Presidente Intercontinental Cancun and were pleased to have a room with a view. We checked out the hotel restaurants and decided to walk down the street to a Mexican restaurant.  We laughed at the Crocodile warning signs and had dinner at a Mexican restaurant where where the girls were called up to be part of the show.

Militpitas was a touristy little Mexican restaurant that brought delicious chips and salsa, lemonade for Grace and a hello kitty shake made of strawberry and coconut for Sarah.

Grace, Tracie, and I all ordered chicken fajitas and Sarah ordered Chicken soup. We were treated with a surprise dance by the waiters and Tracie was invited up to dance with the waiters and some of the other patrons.

Sarah, Grace, and Tracie were then invited up to perform with one of the waiters who danced as they proceeded to place 20 glasses on top of the water's head.

We walked back to our hotel along the beach and the girls ran through the white sand and waves in the dark. Sunset was around 6:00 but the girls enjoyed the adventure of walking back to our hotel in the dark. Along the way Sarah found a coconut and we saw a large bird walking along the shoreline.
It was a wonderful ending to our first day and we fell asleep tired but full and excited for the morning.
